Fairfield, IL – James Lee Alexander Mastaw, 70, of Fairfield, Illinois passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
James was born August 21, 1950 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to the late Alex and Opal Mastaw.
James was a welder for the railroad. He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles in Mt. Carmel, IL, and a member of the Chippewa Nation, Sault Ste Marie Tribe. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping, feeding ducks and deer watching in the woods. Karaoke, singing to elderly people, and music was a big part of his life along with his guitar. Christmas was his favorite time of the year.
He loved his children and grandchildren deeply.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Sharon (Norman) Jones, William Mastaw, and Christina Galla.
James is survived by his wife, Tina Mastaw; his daughters, Ginger (Matt) Mastaw, Suzanne (Tom) Mastaw, and Deb (Richard) Denkema; step-children, Brian Carl and Shaun Carl; 11 grandchildren, Danielle, Hunter, Megan, Felecia, Emily, Phillip, Melissa, Amber, Caleb, Xane, and Jocelyn; two step-grandchildren, Eli Carl and Ty Carl; Brothers, George (Cindy) Wagner, Jerry (Barb) Sienko; and Sister-In-Law, Kate Mastaw; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
