James Albert Payton (Jimmy Fair Play), age 75 passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 18, 1945 in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of the late Richard Lee and Minnie (Ellis) Payton. Jim was a US Navy Veteran and retired from Bristol Myers after 33 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the River Bend and a member of Twin Towers. He loved spending time with family and friends playing Clabber, card games and watching his beloved Yankees and Redskins.
Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois, son Jeff (Terese) of Evansville, son in law Tom Hutchison of Laurel Springs, New Jersey, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his beloved dog, Jasper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael Eugene and daughter Kimberly Sue Hutchison.
A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Twin Towers 3501 Mesker Park Dr. A private family burial will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice Services and all the wonderful staff, especially his nurses Lynn, Cynthia and April and the staff at the VA Clinic.
