Evansville, IN – Donnie was born June 1, 1944 in Uniontown, KY to the late Clarence A. and Mary E. (Alvey)
Drury. He graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1962. He served in the US Navy
aboard the USS Francis Marion in the Vietnam era. After service, he graduated from Indiana
State University in Terre Haute, IN with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. He married the
beautiful, vivacious Mary Charlotte Meredith on March 22, 1985 at St Paul’s Catholic Church in
Grayson Co, KY.
Donnie was “frugal” and just loved getting a good bargain. He enjoyed yard sales, especially
Kight’s, and was an expert on where to buy good things cheap. He was an excellent carpenter
and built their family home along with some of their furniture. He had a great sense of humor,
enjoyed working outdoors, cutting firewood, and gardening. He hated mowing the grass. He
was a loving father and husband that will be greatly missed.
“You just had to be right.”
He is survived by his wife, Mary Drury, his daughter Amber (Drury) Stratton, his son Nathan
Drury & granddaughter Cara Stratton; Siblings: Nancy (Drury) Osborne, Larry (Jan) Drury, & Jim
(Becky) Drury. He was predeceased by his sister Sandra (Drury) Lee in June 2020, his
brother-in-law Bill Osborne in 2012 and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Simple Cremation Evansville will be handling
arrangements
