On Friday, February 17th, Janet G. Marker, beloved wife, and mother, passed away peacefully. She was 71 years young. Janet was surrounded by her family and dear friends after a brief battle with lung cancer. Born to Kurt and Grace Sample In Des Moines, Iowa, Janet began her career in the insurance industry where she met Steve Marker, who became her husband. They were married for 49 years. Janet later entered into the law profession working as a paralegal and church administrator during the span of her career.
Janet devoted her life to being a wife and mother while also pursuing her love of writing. She published countless magazine articles and poems in periodicals and also composed her own work of fiction, a novel, Portraits. With numerous books still in her head to create, Janet’s talents were boundless and could never be brought to fruition in one lifetime. Janet’s creative talents also included painting, songwriting, poetry, singing, and decorating.
We are overwhelmed by how Janet touched so many lives in the quietest of ways. We will miss her love of Christmas and her genuine kindness toward others. She found unconditional acceptance in her church and considered her ministers and congregation a true family. She was a mother who provided true unconditional love and a wife of steadfast devotion. She was a very special person and she will be profoundly missed.
Proceeded in death by parents Kurt and Grace Sample, and sister Susan Bohn. Survived by husband Steve Marker, sons Matt and Cole Marker, son-in-law Brian Ferguson, granddog Olive, brother Dan Sample, sister Nancy Virden and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 11th at 11 AM at Fresh Air Community of Faith, 200 South Boeke Road, Evansville, IN 47714.

I have so much respect for the love this lady showed throughout her life. Cole started kindergarten with my twin boys Jordan and Jeremy. During grade school Jan was a huge part of raising funds so the kids could build their own playground. We became very good friends and have kept in touch. My heart broke when I heard the news. I know her love and kindness carries on in heaven. I lost my son Jordan 2 years ago and Jan was one of the first ones to get in touch with me and offer her condolences.
I know today they are together. I love you Jan; I trust you are resting in peace with no more pain.

Aunt Janet was our fun Aunt. She babysat us when we were kids, and many years later when I had my first baby she showed me how to bathe her while I stood by nervously. We used to laugh about that a lot. When she lived in Iowa we spent a lot of time together doing crafts, making Christmas ornaments, or she would show me some new painting technique. There are so many funny stories I could share! She always made me laugh!
I can’t express the sorrow that I am feeling. I will truly miss her. I know she’s in Heaven with our Lord and all the others who have passed on before her. They’re rejoicing, but we continue to miss her. I love you family, and I know how much Aunt Janet loved her family. I will be praying that God will give us all comfort and peace.
