Mark Alan Jones went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2023 at 3:06 am. God’s Mercy and Grace saw fit to take him peacefully and swiftly in his sleep while in the care of St. Vincent hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Mark was born on February 17, 1954, in Princeton, Indiana to Wilmer and Nora Jean Jones. He is preceded in death by both his parents, his stillborn sister and survived by his brother, Kevin Jones of Evansville, Indiana.
Mark is also survived by his wife Angela (Faries) Jones, who was his soulmate and best friend of 48 years. Also by their five children, Leslie Jones of New Pekin, IN, Aaron Jones, Jarrod Jones, Rachel West all of Princeton, IN, and Cody Jones of Indianapolis, IN. He was also blessed with fourteen grandchildren; Seth, Caleb, Jonah, Gabriel Donoho, Tristen, Bailey, Jordyn Jones, Noah, Savannah, Dakota Jones, Gracelyn, Addison West, Jericho, Anneliese Jones and one great grandchild Stephen Donoho.
Mark graduated from PCHS in 1972 and continued his education at Louisville Bible College. While there, he took an EMT course to help out a friend who was teaching and needed more students to sign up. Not knowing that this would be the path that the Lord used for him to minister to not only the physical needs of the Gibson County residents, but even more importantly, the spiritual needs as well. Mark served on the Gibson County EMS from 1976—2016. He was instrumental in starting the Gibson County Rescue Service, served as its Chaplin and managed the maintenance of the ambulances and equipment.
Mark was a faithful member of Princeton Christian Church and served many years as a Deacon. Mark’s life is a summation of “Practice What You Preach”. Whether this was offering his home and support to the downtrodden (friend or stranger) or offering what little food he had to spare into the stomachs of the hungry. Mark strived to lead by example to have others follow him into a relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 1st, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Princeton Christian Church. Located at 219 N. Gibson Street in Princeton, IN. The service will be open to anyone who would like to share their stories of how Mark touched their life in any way.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Princeton Christian Church to help pay for medical bills that occurred while Mark was sick. Donations can be mailed to Princeton Christian Church PO Box 567 Princeton, IN 47670, or at the church during the time of service.
