Olney, IL – Samuel Lee Jarvis, Sr. “Sam”, 75 years, of Olney, IL, passed away on April 27, 2023
at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born March 30, 1948 in Grant
Town, West Virginia to Paul and Pearl (nee Powell) Jarvis.
He is survived by his loving wife Bobbie (nee Bruner) whom he married on
September 15, 1965, daughter Pam (Alan) Steppig, son Sammy (Leslie) Jarvis Jr.,
grandchildren Jaycen (Telia) Jarvis, Ryan (Brittany) Steppig, Jaycob (Cami) Jarvis,
Joshua (Brianna) Jarvis, Tyler Steppig, and Faith Jarvis, great-grandchildren Jarryn
Jarvis, Kynsley Jarvis, and baby Tate Jarvis on the way, and extended family Jerry
and Carrie Hough. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and special
friends, as well as his fur baby Gus.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Pearl (nee Powell) Jarvis, his in-
laws Walter and Ressie (nee Holder) Bruner, sisters Pauline (nee Jarvis) Crawford,
Pat (nee Jarvis) Burke, brother Tom Jarvis, grandchildren Jarryd Jarvis, Jordan
Jarvis, and Alicia Steppig as well as his fishing buddy, Morris Denton, and his fur
baby Gizmo.
Earlier in his life, Sam worked in the oil fields for Rusk & Williams for 20-years as a
driller and later as a school bus driver for Richland County over 30-years. After his
retirement, he volunteered his time at East Richland Elementary as well as Olney
Lake Patrol. Aside from spending time with his family, Sam enjoyed passing time
by fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and collecting various items, especially
coins. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and
friend and he will be dearly missed.
At Sam’s request, there will be no services held, though a celebration of life will be
held at a later date.
Simple Cremation Evansville is entrusted with care.

I want to give my heart felt condolences to all family. He was my cousin through John Jarvis. We always enjoyed trying to figure out the Jarvis lines. He was a loving and caring man. I so sorry to hear about his passing.

Wish there could of been a reunion before it was too late cousin just came in contact and now your in peace in spirit. Wish there’s more I can do life is short. Not enough time it feels like never enough. My condolences to his wife and family and now I’m a Jarvis cousin also but never got to speak or talk to him before it’s too late. RIP cousin nothing love over here.
