Suzanne Marie DeLong passed away on June 23, 2023 after suffering a major cardiac event. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 13, 1956 and moved to Carpentersville, Illinois the same year. She graduated from Irving Crown High School in 1974 and attended Elgin Community College.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Marie (Hall) DeLong in 1981 and James W. DeLong in 2020 and her ex-husband Leonard Flentge in 2019.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Christina Michalak Almaden (Christopher) of Hurst, TX, her siblings: James W. DeLong, Jr. (Mary), Kathleen A. Sweeney (Daniel) and David DeLong (Pam); many cousins, nephews; stepsons: Henry Flentge and Joseph Flentge, and adopted Christopher, IL family: Jacquelyn Foster, Freddie Foster, Robert Foster, and Jeremy Foster.
Sue worked at Motorola, JoAnn Fabrics, and helped to manage and maintain the Springhill Apartments with her husband Len. Looking for a simpler lifestyle. Sue and Len moved to Christopher, Illinois in where she lived until the time of her death.
Sue was a strong and fiercely independent woman. She was very proud of buying her own home in 2013. She had a strong faith in God and maintained a positive spirit during many hardships. She loved researching family history and keeping in touch with family, cousins, and childhood friends. She loved animals and had several pets who would go to loving homes.
Suzanne’s cremation was handled by Simple Cremation in Evansville, Indiana. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
