Arlene Wolf, of Evansville, passed away on July 19 at Walnut Creek Care Center.
She was a graduate of Memorial High School and attended the University of Evansville and Ivy Tech. She retired from Creative Press Inc. in 2007.
Arlene had a lifelong concern for animals and belonged to numerous animal welfare and environmental organizations. She was appointed to the Evansville Animal Control Commission by Mayor Michael Vandeveer and served on that board for eight years, during which time a new, much-needed animal shelter was constructed and many other positive changes initiated.
She also served on the board of the Metropolitan Evansville Advertising Club for four years. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include niece Erika Wolf of Lake Villa, Illinois, sister-in-law Janie Wolf of Evansville; cousins Jay Castro and Jinx Maloney of Tucson, Arizona; and dear friend and neighbor Traci Graw.
She was preceded in death by parents Arthur J. and Ann Wolf; brothers Arthur L. and Ronald A. and beloved dogs Fritz, Lulu, Bosco, Molly and Pepper.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.
Memorial contributions may be made to any animal shelter or welfare organization.
