Marcia J. Nolen (Polk), 89, or Evansville Indiana, passed away Monday November 6, 2023 peacefully at the Linda White Hospice House/Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born November 13, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Bertram A. and Beulah (Frank) Polk. Most of her life she lived in Evansville, Indiana after her family moved here from St. Louis.
Marcia was married to James C. Nolen Jr. (J.C.) at St. Mathew’s UCC Church on 1st Ave. In Evansville November 6, 1955. He preceded her in death April 4, 1998.
Marcia was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone Co. As an operator, and the Evansville Store in the Credit Department for short periods of time, but most of her time was occupied taking care of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of other children of family and friends.
Marcia’s interests and hobbies included playing bingo, cards, bowling, and going to SWIRCA to have lunch with her sisters and friends.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jody Payne, her sister Anita Siscel, sister-in-law, Joann Polk, and nephew, James (Jimmy) Polk.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Todd) Moore, and Jay Nolen, her grandchildren Jamie (Bryan) Euler, Katie (Grant) Colvin, Kyle Moore, Danielle Payne, Madison Nolen, Bradley Euler, Braxton Euler, Kaliegh Appell, Aaliah Trinh, Jaxton Trinh, Cannon Colvin, Jace Colvin, and Lucy Colvin, Sisters, Carol (Charles) Gustafson, Kathy (Dennis) Brooks, and brothers, Michael Polk, and David (Lisa) Polk. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Lily.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Twin Towers in Evansville, from 11a.m. to 4p.m. on Friday, November 17th. After a time of reflection and memories by family and friends who come to visit, there will be a brief service guided by Dennis Brooks, Lay Pastor. Lunch will be provided after this service for those who wish to stay.
