Darrel Alan Kaufman, 68, passed away November 11, 2023, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, IN.
Darrel’s life was met with many challenges. He was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 27. Along with numerous other surgeries, he had also received a kidney transplant at the age of 45. Regardless of his hardships, Darrel will be always remembered for his witty personality and his great sense of humor.
Darrel was a 1973 graduate of Tell City High School. He was a former lineman for Tell City Electric Department before becoming disabled in 1997.
Darrel enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. You could always expect to get a belly laugh or two when hanging out with Darrel. His greatest treasures were his children and grandchildren. He was their biggest fan when competing in sports and had been even more proud of their academic accomplishments.
Darrel loved spending his free time woodworking and going to the casino. Before losing partial vision, you could find him drag-racing cars with his son, building furniture or working on automobiles. He enjoyed meeting friends/family for breakfast in the morning or having a drink at the Moose Lodge in the evening.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents Catherine (Daming) Kaufman and Edward Kaufman. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cindy (Thompson) Kaufman, two children; son, Dale (Michelle) Kaufman of Tell City, IN, and daughter, Laura (Jeremy) Bennett of Owensboro, KY, five grandchildren; Alec, Lewis and Eleanor Kaufman, and Sidney & Avery Bennett. Brother, Dave (Sue) Kaufman of Santa Claus, IN and Becky (Denny) Vincent of Mt Vernon, IN, along with numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, January 6th from 1-4 pm at Tell City Moose Lodge.
