Brenda was born in Evansville May 9, 1958, to John R. White, Jr. and Georgia (Bauman) White.
Brenda retired from Bristol Myers, where she had worked for over 30 years as an administrative assistant.
She enjoyed vacationing in the Southwest and collecting Navajo pottery. Brenda developed a passion for helping homeless dogs and wanted to find a way to do more for them.
In 2004 Brenda started a non-profit dog rescue group in her home county called PC Pound Puppies (Posey County Pound Puppies). Over the years this organization has grown to include many volunteers, foster families, supporters, and donors. The dedicated volunteers have saved over 2000 dogs and work tirelessly to provide shelter and medical care to them before their forever home is found.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Moe; daughter Angie (Scott); son Brandon (Brandi); grandchildren Logan, Morgan, and a second grandson on the way; sister Nancy (Elwood); brother Dick (Nancy); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Georgia White, and her parents-in-law Wayne and Wilma Vanderver.
Brenda was a very selfless person, always helping others and devoting her time to saving helpless and abandoned dogs. She also gave in death as she gave in life through the gift of organ and tissue donation.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts to the family, a donation can be made in Brenda’s name to the Newlife Rescue & Adoption building fund. This is the merging of PC Pound Puppies and Posey Humane Society that Brenda was helping to plan when she passed away.

I am so sorry for your loss. Brenda brought me my little Dusty
who we loved dearly. Unfortunately, Dusty’s heart gave out before
a year was up, but so thankful Brenda saved him and all the others with
her caring heart.

News of Brenda’s hospitalization and passing stopped me in my tracks. She was a friend and rescue mentor in those early years of her efforts to make a difference for the animals of Posey County. Her incredible, constant, selfless efforts were an inspiration then and a source of purpose since. While we did not speak regularly and I have not seen her in the many years since I moved away, I have been flooded with simple, impactful memories. Her impact on the animals of SW Indiana is inescapable but her impact on the people should not be overlooked. Hundreds of volunteers and thousands of families were improved by her efforts. Godspeed, Brenda, and speed in healing to all who knew her.

Brenda and I met in the Pound Puppy Days when we took dogs to PFC on Sundays. I adopted 2 wonderful dogs because of her and fostered several. I learned so much from her. I miss you so much Brenda. Give Stewie a kiss from me. Stewie was my first foster and a foster failure. That’s how we met at Petsmart. I still can’t believe you are gone but know you are getting much needed rest in heaven. Much earned.
