Donald Rush Falknor, 66, a resident of Herrin, IL for many years, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN surrounded by his family. Donald and his wife, Janice, had moved to Huntingburg, IN a few years ago to be near their children and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, IL with Pastor Ron Henwood officiating. Donald was born on March 30, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dorothy (Silvey) Falknor and Rush Falknor. He married Janice (Williams) Falknor on April 21, l979 at Radio Tabernacle in Herrin, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Falknor; and children Adam (Kristin) Falknor, and Sarah Falknor; grandchildren Jillian and Jessa Falknor; and brother, Ron (Karen) Falknor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Sandra Hampton and Deborah Barron; father and mother-in-law, Vic and Betty Williams.
Donald worked several years as a Correctional Officer; first at Menard State Prison (primarily working Death Row), then Marion Federal Penitentiary. Many will remember Don’s time at the Egyptian Drive In in Energy, IL as a projectionist; a position he thoroughly enjoyed! Donald was best known for his inspired singing, both gospel and old-time Country & Western music. He was known as the “Dinner Singer”; he volunteered and sang at multiple venues, including the annual Thanksgiving dinner in Herrin.
Donald never met a stranger; he strived to make everyone feel welcome and put a smile on their face; he touched many lives. Despite numerous health problems, Donald always kept a positive outlook and insisted he was “fantastic”!
He was a loving husband and supportive father, always there for his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family; especially his granddaughters Jillian and Jessa who he said were the light of his life.

He would always be ready to help. He was a great singer but I know he is singing with the angels and all of his loved ones already there. Donnie will be missed. I was so blessed to call him cousin. Love ya Donnie. ❤️

Don ,was the best. He was so kind to us around Valentines Day, when he brought us chocolates. He was very thoughtful of others. He was a very kind man. Sorry for your loss. He will be remembered !

So sorry for your loss.We only met Donnie once when he came to entertain for us. The residents loved him. He was a super nice guy and great singer. I’m sure he will be very missed by many. Prayers being sent from the Fox Ridge Manor residents and staff🙏🙏🙏

Having moved out of state I just recently learned of Don’s rise to heaven. As a dialysis social worker I admired Don’s strength and resilience. Later as a friend/acquaintance I admired his passion for sharing his talent and desire to make people happy by sharing it. May our Lord comfort Don’s family. The Kingdom has gained a great man!
