Valerie (Val) Leigh Hoffman, age 69, passed away on June 2nd, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Val was born at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville on October 12, 1954. Val worked at Deaconess Henderson Hospital (previously Methodist Hospital) for almost 20 years and had many close friends who worked beside her. Val enjoyed spending time camping with her husband Jimmy, planting flowers in her yard, finding treasures at yard sales, and working at the hospital with her friends.
Val is survived by her husband James (Jimmy) Hoffman Jr. of 28 years; daughter, Angela Martin; son and his spouse, Michael, and Anna Gray; grandchildren Glenda Martin, Tiffany Jackson, Josh Martin, Jesse Gray, Karli Gray, and Dalen Vandiver; her great-grandchildren, Naughtia Kholmeyer, Terry Kholmeyer, Adrianna Raider, Jasmeen Singh, Ramani Singh, and Daya’skye Jackson. Also surviving Val is her sister, Pam Puckett; niece and spouse Lauren and Kevin Vlietstra and their son Alistair of Ada, MI; and nephew Jason Puckett of Holland, MI.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Deaconess Henderson Hospital (Classroom 1) on Saturday, June 8th from 2-5 p.m. Val will be laid to rest at Oakhill Cemetery in Evansville with her parents, Mary, and Jean Storms.
Val’s family would like to thank the staff at Deaconess Gateway for their support and care during Val’s final days. The family would also like to thank all of Val’s co-workers at Deaconess Henderson for being her second family and always putting a smile on her face.

Val was a sweet, funny firecracker! She was always asking me how I could work so long of a shift(12hrs) and then tell me to go out and have some fun and quit working so much. Lol She always made me laugh with her stories and her laugh was contagious. You will be very missed, my friend!! Til we meet again…
