Jacob “Jack” S. Ciesielczyk, a veteran of Vietnam and longtime resident of Fairfield, IL unexpectedly passed away on December 8, 2023.
Jack was born March 3, 1945 to Stanley and Genevieve Ciesielczyk from Lyons, IL, where Jack lived his rambunctious young life with his two younger brothers Robert “Bob” and William “Billy” Ciesielczyk. He attended Morton West High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1965. Private First Class, Jack was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War.
Jack was a business owner, he owned and operated Classic Auto Body in Fairfield for over 30+ years. Classic Auto Body was Jack’s pride, joy, and life’s work. He poured his heart and soul into the business which showed to all customers and patrons.
Jack was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he had an enormous heart with an unforgettable sense of humor that was infectious to everyone around him. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences as a veteran and mechanic. All traits that were obvious to all after even just a single meeting with him.
When he wasn’t working hard in his shop, Jack had a passion for antique cars, collecting coins and many other unique collectibles. Jack accumulated so many treasures within his life, that we have years of memories to keep close to our hearts forever.
Jack’s faith was important to him and although his health was declining, Jack carried himself with dignity, strength, laughter and was full of love. He will be missed beyond measure by all.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Genevieve Ciesielczyk, his brothers, Robert and William Ciesielczyk and former spouse Betty Ciesielczyk with whom he maintained a close friendship with thereafter.
Jack is survived by his many nieces, cousins, step children, grandchildren and extended family. In addition, he had countless friends, customers, neighbors and so many others who were also a part of his life.
Please join our family in celebrating Jack’s life and military service with military honors and a committal service taking place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
