Kristi Small, 58, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at her home.
Kristi met her future husband, Roddy, in the toy aisle of K-Mart when they were in elementary
school. Roddy threw a jumbo bouncy ball at Kristi, right there in the store, in an obvious attempt to
capture her attention. It worked. Over the next nearly five decades, Kristi and Roddy never stopped
laughing as they grew their life and family together.
Kristi was a resourceful and generous wife, mother and homemaker. She was a talented home
cook, who adeptly scaled all recipes to sufficiently feed an army of hungry teenage boys. She
relished in planning and preparing for all holidays and family gatherings with carefully curated (and
often handmade) home decor, memorable menus, and meaningful gifts that reflected just how
much consideration she had for her loved ones throughout the years.
Kristi was insightful, empathetic, and intuitive, yet simultaneously rational, sensible and
reasonable, striking a natural balance between the head and the heart. Kristi was keenly observant
with a real knack for online research and fact finding that would have served her well as a detective
or private investigator. Kristi instead wisely chose to invest her time, talents and beautiful
penmanship, into the success and wellbeing of her family, for which they will always be grateful.
Kristi is survived by her husband, Roddy Small; sons, Rick (Megan Doyle) Small and Tyler (Breanna)
Small; daughter, Ashley (Derek) Ashby; sister, Dawn Faw; aunt, Linda Gates; sisters-in-law,
Stephanie (Kenny) Stucki and Jennifer (Jerry) Smith; brother-in-law, Scott Small; nieces, Valerie
(Adrian) Dockery, Samantha (Justin) Luebbehusen and Danielle (Adam) Kron; nephews, Bryan and
Daniel Faw; grandchildren, Kaylee Money, Hayden Mercer, and Riley Mercer; cousins, Teresa
Hensley, Laura (Steve) Boledovic, Chad Hensley, Rebekah Waters, Samantha Waters, Amy (Derick
Swords) Barnes and Sarah Leard; and her best friend, Michelle (Ed) Mason.
Kristi was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Phyllis Walsh; cousins, Michael Coleman and
Sam Hensley; father-in-law, Jerry Small; mother-in-law, Patricia Davison; and sister-in-law, Sue
Rose.
Formal services will not be held, in accordance with her wishes.
