ELDON SCOTT says
Ethel and family, so sorry to hear of Dave’s death. Have not been in touch for several years (I retired from AG in ’97 after the death of our son (age 29). He was a super guy and will always remember him. Perhaps I can share a remembrance. You guys had been to Gatlinburgh and had hiked to Rainbow Falls. He had (I think Sarah) on his shoulders and heard a noise. He looked back as she stated “BIG TEDDY BEAR” – think he said he really picked up the pace from there. We still hike down there occasionally and sometimes see bears and I always remember “big teddy bear”.

I am so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Dave was the best boss I ever had. He was a good mentor and a better friend. Although distance and life kept us from seeing one another very often, he was frequently in my thoughts. Hold onto to the good memories, they will help you find peace. Sending prayers for peace and strength to the Elkins family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. David was always like a father to me and I know I mad him just as mad as Anne and Sarah sometimes! I could always tell by how red his face and ears got! However, he was always present and always a great role model for me. I will never forget our trip out west and my favorite picture of the two of us in Boulder, CO on the front porch of a place we stayed and his silly hats I was so intrigued by at the time. Much Love!!!!
