David Hays of Henderson, 70, passed away March 22 at Cypress Groves Nursing Home in Newburgh after a short battle with cancer. David was born in Henderson where he was a member of the last graduating class of Holy Name High School. He served in the United States Navy after high school. He worked for the Henderson Creamery, the family business, before retiring as a long-haul truck driver.
David loved the outdoors, especially the beach, UK basketball and most of all spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jane Hays and brother, John Hays. He is survived by a daughter, Tyneal Miller of St. Louis, two sons, Brock Hays of Indianapolis and Mat Hays of Evansville. Surviving brothers include Claud and Joe Hays of Henderson, Willy and Jim Hays of Evansville. Surviving sisters include Mary Caton and Katy McAtee of Henderson and Susan Hays of Fort Branch. He has several nieces and nephews and eight precious grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. There will be a private family celebration of Gabby’s life at a later date.
