Ernie Rex Myers, 87, of Evansville, Indiana went to be with his maker, our Lord God Almighty, on September 12, 2023.
Rex was born on May 12, 1936, to the late Orville and Golda (Hill) Myers in Olney, Illinois at the “Old Sanitarium” Jackson Hospital. He was a veteran of the Army and a MP during the Korean War. After returning home, he wanted to join the police department but was too young.
He owned and operated several hotels, motels, and bars over his lifetime. Rex was an avid hunter. He could fix anything, lay concrete, or build anything. Rex enjoyed watching cowboy movies, John Wayne being his favorite.
Rex is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beverly; daughters Terry Petty, Cheryl Myers; step-daughter Julie Ward; granddaughters Heather Borst and Jessica Emily Ward; grandson Jacob Ward; and two great grandchildren Addison and Colin Borst.
A military service will be held at a later date.
Simple Cremation Evansville is entrusted with his care.
