Hans Deiter Benden, 81, of Haubstadt, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home. He was born on March 9, 1940, in Eschweiler Kreis Aachen, Germany to the late Hans Karl Benden and Agnes Benden (Kuck). He is survived by his loving wife Lynn Benden (Maynard), his daughter Michelle Maynard; his grandsons Kason and Kolten. His son Nick Maynard; his granddaughters Kiersten and Khloe and 2 great-grandchildren. He also has a great-niece, Casey Coomes.
Hans received his education in Germany and trained to be a Master Mechanic. He came to the US in 1983, after answering an ad in the paper to work on European cars, for Vintasia Carriage Works in Evansville, Indiana. Years later, he bought the company and named it European Connection, Inc. He was a proud principled man, always making sure family, friends and his customers had safe reliable vehicles.

Hans’ obituary was perfectly stated. He most definitely was a proud principled man. For years he was the sole mechanic on my ‘86 Mercedes-Benz and ‘91 BMW. He was tremendously skilled and honest. I am very glad to have known him. Sincere condolences to Lynn and his family.

Prayers to the family. I knew Hans when he worked with my dad Jack Hunsinger. I would stop in the shop to see dad and Hans would be over there working quietly while Dad was always joking around. Dad died July 30, 2021. Sure dad is keeping Hans entertained.

I was looking your dad up trying to find a phone number and found out he had died. It was a horrible shock for me. I’m Hans’ wife and worked there for years with your dad. He was so goofy and funny. So many people have died around me lately it’s hard. I’ll miss your Dad. Prayers for your family also.

Thank you Lynn. It was a shock to me also. Betty found dad on the couch that morning. Must have been his heart. I still miss him everyday. He and Hans were 2 great guys.

I just saw that you posted this a year ago, Lynn. I read it wrong as yesterday. Sorry I didn’t see this last year. I just happened to be going to old obits and came across your reply.
