Karen Elaine Simms, 64, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at her home in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on January 24, 1956 in Henderson, Kentucky to the late James and Marion (Rogers) Simms.
Karen worked for several years at Ellis Park and other horse racing tracks, where she was well known as “Precious.” She loved working with horses, gardening, and was very social. She had many friends and never met a stranger. She was a small lady with a huge heart that loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Monika Adell (Bromm) Joines; grandchildren, Kane Vincent, Tyler Vincent, Sierra Joines, Kandis Hogan, and Tayler Hogan; great grandchildren, Elijah, Benjamin, Lydia, Cyrus, Evelyn, and Meliah,who lovingly called her NANA; sisters, Retha Harpole and Vickie Simms; Best friend and companion, Heavy Watson; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, James and Marion (Rogers) Simms; brother, Roger Simms.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be announced by her family at a later date.
