Kenneth (no middle name) Edwards, aka Sombody, bubbles, daddy, dad, old man, Ken, Kenny, grandpa
On the evening of August 24th, 4 days before the 2015 death of his oldest child, Kenneth Edwards passed away at 7pm in his baby girl’s home, surrounded by a family full of love. Kenneth passed after a short 2 year battle with lung cancer. He fought harder than any man I’ve ever seen. Cancer had consumed his body but he decided to not let cancer get the best of him. He left the best of himself for his close family.
Kenneth Edwards was born on July 26th 1954 in Gibson Tennessee. He was the youngest of 14. 7 boys and 7 girls. Kenneth was the 7th son of the seventh son, he had 7 letters in his first name and 7 letters in his last name. Kenneth’s parents were Matilda (Mother) Edwards and Boyd Edwards.
Kenny grew up as the youngest of 14, many of his siblings had grown up and gone. He loved to help Mother in the garden and when he grew a marijuana plant for her, she said “it’s a pretty plant Kenneth but you know Wade (brother) will have a fit if he finds out. So it was pulled up.
Kenneth entered the army in 1973 and spent time in Germany, he was proud of his service and learned to be an excellent marksman. Kenneth was honorably discharged in 1976.
Kenneth was an experienced fisherman where he liked to fish in his boat along the Tennessee River. He loved to spend time outdoors whether it was fishing, hunting, camping or rock hunting. Most of all, Kenneth loved spending time with his family. He loved fishing with Pete (Bill) Crow, his older nephew. And loved spending time with his granddaughter Cynthia. He had a passion for working on cars and he loved his guns.
If you knew Kenny you know he could tell a story, sometimes several times. He had a story for nearly everything. If I heard him say it once I heard it a million times, he was a man with a story to tell. He traveled many miles in his 68 years, from his time in the Army to his time on the open road behind his Peterbuilt. If he could be here now he would tell everyone to “Butt a stump” and “tell Camden to kiss my ass, he’s going home”
Kenneth was preceded in death by Matilda (Tilly) Edwards, whom everyone knew as (Mother), Boyd Edwards, father, 4 sisters, Dolly Bell Edwards, Polly Edwards, Nancy Sheffield, Katherine Forrest, and 6 brothers Wade Edwards, Bobby Edwards, Frank Edwards, Chuck Edwards, Jackie Edwards, Howard Edwards, and a loving daughter Chelsie Edwards. He leaves behind, his wife Karen Edwards, his only son Nicholas Edwards his baby girl Julie Edwards Conder (Shannon Conder), and his grand baby Cynthia Warren. Along with 3 sisters – Lucy Edwards, Loretta Bomar (Jerry Bomar), and Linda Hillard, and many nieces and nephews.
Kenneth wished to be cremated, but a memorial service will be held at Plunk Funeral home in Camden, Tennessee on Saturday August 27th from 2-7pm. Condolences can be sent to my personal Facebook page or to plunkfuneralhome.com. Donations to help with costs can be made to plunkfuneralhome.com or I will post on my personal Facebook page as well.
