Marilyn Louise (Webel) Shelden was born in Quincy, IL on December 3, 1927 to parents Guy and Marie( Mullins) Webel. She died on May 15, 2022 in Evansville, IN. She was raised on her parents’ family farm in rural Brown County. Marilyn graduated from Perry High School and obtained her first job at Mormon Feeds in Quincy. She married Robert, (Ted) Shelden on October 8, 1948. Together, they had two daughters, Sally and Nancy. Over the years they lived in Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri as Ted’s job in road construction required frequent moves. In 1969, the family moved to Mt. Vernon, IL. While living there, Marilyn worked at Good Samaratin Hospital and retired after many years of service. She was an excellent cook, baker, and seamstress and enjoyed being part of a bowling league. Her Christmas cookies were a yearly tradition enjoyed by her family. After retirement, she and Ted moved back to Perry, IL. They enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and activities at the Perry United Methodist Church. She and Ted especially enjoyed bus tours to Branson, MO. In 2011, Marilyn and Ted relocated to Indiana to be closer to family. Her family is deeply grateful to Heart to Heart Hospice of Evansville, IN for providing such compassionate and skilled care over these last months.
Marilyn is predeceased by her loving husband Robert, (Ted), in 2013; parents Guy and Marie Webel; sisters Marjorie Riley and Annette Heineman. Surviving Marilyn are her daughters Sally Sharp (Jim Gelzleichter) of Evansville, IN; Nancy (Vince) Miosi of Cherry Valley, IL; grandchildren Alex (Jennifer) Baker, Brett (Jennifer) Baker , Rick Gelzleichter, Angie Gelzleichter (Phil Clark), Betsy Carnahan (Tim Gulotta), Leslie Carnahan(Arturo Rodarte), Kelsey (Kai)Yoo, Dave Miosi and Michelle (Nick) Wake; great grandchildren Aubrey, Lila, Cade, Bailey, Boston, Carrigan, Grayson, Ian, Matias, Orion, Paloma, Al, Shilo, and a great granddaughter due in November ; sister Roberta Rhoades of Perry, IL and many nieces and nephews.
