On September 1, 2023, Melvin Herrell, a hardworking husband, father, and loving minister, born on October 1, 1950, went to sleep in death.
Melvin had a unique sense of humor and always used it to encourage and upbuild others. He loved to travel, visiting countries such as Denmark, El Salvador, and Guatemala to name a few. Melvin served as an Elder in the Southeast Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many decades. He helped many people learn about the Bible and come to have a relationship with their Creator. He had an attention to detail that enabled him to also be a successful businessman.
Melvin grew up with 7 sisters and he loved each of them dearly, calling them often to check on them. They will miss him so much.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Donald and Joan Herrell. His father-in-law and mother-in-law Donald and Sarah Jones. His brother, Alan Herrell. His sisters, Charlotte Lupton and Sherrie Niethammer. His brothers-in-law Hank Lupton, Roger Gaylor, and Rueben Meeler.
He is survived by his wife Belinda, whom he wed on September 30, 1972. His sons Jonathan, Jeffrey (Bailee), Jeremy (Kim). Including many grandkids he loved to spend time with who knew him by Papa and have many happy memories. Sisters, Becky Meeler, Dora Gaylor, Donna Ellis (John “Curt”) Ellis, Elizabeth (Henry) Carner, Charlene (Evan) Ellis. His sister-in-law Donna Dungan. His brother-in-law Jim Niethammer and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, too, who all loved him and loved his caring, joking ways.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1530 Burdette Ave, Evansville, Indiana. A memorial service will follow at 3:00pm with Anthony Moffat officiating.
