On December 10, 2024 our angel, Sam, gained his wings as he fought his final earthly battle and passed peacefully at home surrounded by family that loved him unconditionally. Samual Ray Vanscyoc was born March 9, 2004 to the parents of Jeffrey and Cathy. Sam has been a fighter from the very beginning born at just 25 weeks. He was a miracle child who fought through every battle thrown his way his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey, and his brother, Isaiah. Grieving his loss here on earth are his mom, Cathy, and siblings Katie Robinson of Rockport, Korbin Thomason of Colorado, Emma, Brenna, and Josiah of Boonville. He was also loved by his grandparents Vanessa and Marty McCallister of Boonville, Linda Warner of Boonville, and Brad and Lori Vansycoc of Arizona. He also leaves behind a loving niece, Brynlee, along with other extended family and friends.
Sam is a 2024-25 graduating senior at Boonville High School who loved school, his friends and riding the bus. He loved cheetos, his moo cow, Moana, superman, singing, dancing, and the rain. He loved all music but didn’t hesitate to change the playlist depending on his mood. He was quick to share his contagious smile and a cheesy grin that would light up the room. He had a sense of humor that was definitely unique, just ask anyone who knew him to share a story. He loved to tease, play tricks and take attendance everywhere he went. Sam loved his papaw, Marty, and going to the moon. They would often joke about going to Alaska to swim in the pond, play in the snow and let the fishes bite off your toes. He was the light of his mom’s life and created peace among the chaos.
Sam loved BIG! Life was a struggle from the very beginning, but he never let it show. He was love, hope, faith and peace – light in the darkness. He was a gift to this world and all who knew him. We would all be better if we channeled a little Sam into our lives. He will be missed but not forgotten. We find great comfort in knowing he was met with open arms by his father followed by a trip to the moon and lots of running.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date so that family and friends can gather to share love and Sam memories. The family would like to thank everyone who has been along on this journey, especially Heart to Heart Hospice and his Boonville school family.
