Sandra “Sandy” May (Adams) Earles, 76, passed away on Tuesday, February 20th, surrounded by her loved ones at Deaconess Midway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Sandy was born in Wadesville, Indiana, on August 17th, 1947. She received her high school diploma at Central High School in 1965. She met her soulmate and first husband, David Kirkwood, in California, where they raised three young daughters, Tina (Kirkwood) Floyd, Hazel Kirkwood, and Karen (Kirkwood) Steckler. After the sudden death of her husband in 1982, Sandy and the girls returned to Indiana. In 1996, she briefly attended college at Ivy Tech and aspired to become a medical assistant, but she did not attain her degree. Regardless, she was an excellent reader and writer, and she was an avid lover of movies and TV. She enjoyed the Star Trek series and all varieties of sci-fi or doomsday films—that, or a good BBC murder mystery show. She grew up in a big and loving (even a little chaotic) family. She was her siblings’ rock to lean on, and her daughters were the stars of the family show. Her favorite pastime was spending the evening with her beloved siblings, children, and grandchildren, playing card games and laughing. She was headstrong and stubborn, but she was wise, funny, and truly kind. Later in life, she spent many weekends with her granddaughter, Morgan Steckler. Sandy looked forward to her weekend calls with Morgan, where they shared laughs, struggles, and stories. She lived with her sister, Elizabeth Adams, and brother, David Adams, who cared for her until her last day. She leaves behind her sisters, Elizabeth Adams and Sherri (Adams) Chandler; brothers Dale and David Adams; daughter Tina Floyd; and grandchildren Morgan Steckler and Robby Adams. In death, she joins her parents, Alline (Bailey) Adams and Ragsdale Adams; sisters Jo Ann (Adams) Clark and Sharon (Adams) Morrison; and daughters Karen Steckler and Hazel Kirkwood.
The family celebrated her life privately.
