Steven L. Perry passed away September 1, 2023, feeling more love and more loved than he ever had in his life. As a Dad, a Grandpa, a Son, a Brother, a Friend, a Preacher, a Servant, his life was a job “Well done.” He hit prodigious home runs in church-league softball. He cracked corny jokes (occasionally a good one) to make his grandkids laugh. He loved learning, and he was always striving to make himself and any situation better. He was the absolute best Dad. Through churches in Evansville, Henshaw, and Lexington, KY, as well as in serving the homeless community and their supporters at the Evansville Rescue Mission, he impacted many lives. He cherished people and relationships at each stop and talked about them until the day he died. He had a way of helping others know they were loved and valued. He spent his last 53+ years as “half of one person” with his wife, Bonnie, who loved and cared for him beautifully through thick and thin, in sickness and in health. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Laura “Eloise” Perry, his sister, Joyce Wood, his brother, David Perry, and a very dear brother-in-law, Bill Almon. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Jeane Almon, his daughter, Amy (Scott) Goldsmith, sons Taylor (Josilyn) and Andy (Sarah) Perry, and–the jewels on the his crown–his grandchildren: Vlad Perry, Truett, Nina, Sascha, Ella and Aiden Goldsmith, and Colin, Amelia, Sophie, Reese and Chloe Perry. To respect Steve’s wishes, close family will hold a private memorial but no funeral service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Steve may make a donation to Greener Pastures Ministries, Inc 15420 Peck Road Evansville, IN 47725, new operators of Camp Reveal—a ministry that was close to Steve’s heart.
