Evansville, IN – Sylvia (Skinner) Richert, 83, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Heart to Heart Hospice Inpatient Unit in Evansville. She was born on October 8, 1939 in Evansville to the late Paul and Roberta (Rodrian) Skinner.
Sylvia received her Bachelor’s in Education at Evansville College and then went on to receive a Master’s in Education with a focus in Counseling. She briefly taught in Evansville and subsequently served with her husband, the late Rev. Lawrence Richert, in the United Methodist Church, Southern Indiana Conference.
She loved ministering to others, reading, and traveling the world. Her travels took her across the globe, to destinations like Vietnam, China, Egypt, Israel, and her favorite, Kenya. She embraced different cultures and loved meeting people from diverse backgrounds.
Sylvia was a member of P.E.O., Chapter BB, where she served terms as President and Treasurer. Her life was enriched by spending time with family and many dear friends.
She is survived by her children, Bryan Richert (Tanya Quin) and Alicia Richert; her grandson, Mason Seiler; as well as her brothers, Ralph Skinner (Darla), Ron Skinner (Linda) and Jeff Skinner (Shauna Brummet).
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lawrence Richert and her granddaughter, Aislinn Rose Seiler.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday July 19, 2023, at Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Amani Partners Kenya and sent to 5130 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47715.
