Wilfred Opilas Tanjoco (age 72) passed away at his home in Newburgh, Indiana on December 31, 2021, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilario & Saturnina Tanjoco; and a sister, Marilyn Lee.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Sue Cron Tanjoco; son, Anthony and wife Erica Tanjoco; and a daughter, Elizabeth and husband Matthew Ruark. He had 11 grandchildren, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Willie was born 1949 in Quezon City, Philippines. He came to the United States in 1969, became a proud US Citizen, joined the Air Force, and served in a tour that included 1 year in Vietnam during the war.
In work, he retired from Berry Plastics and had been barbering at his business, Wil’s Barber Shop, in Newburgh for the last several years.
He loved to create and tinker. He enjoyed woodworking and making things like shelves, desks, and cabinets. If something was broken around the house, he would fix it. He also loved golf, music, played guitar, karaoke, and painted.
He loved the Lord Christ Jesus and was winning people to the Lord, even in the hospital.
The surviving family thanks all the doctors, nurses and technicians who took care of him. Also a special thanks to Heart2Heart hospice care, who showed exemplary compassion & care in his last days.
His will was to be cremated with no service or memorial.
